FOCUS: CULTURE OF CARING

 

​What did we learning in a seamless PK-8 setting?

  • The Culture of Caring permeates the environment and is visible to all

  • Extended learnng is valued through after school fencing, vegetarian cooking, holiday drafts, chess and gymnastics

  • The PTA and ELAC are working together to promote inclusion and benefit the total school community.

  • Shoreline Acres, a private PK on the TES campus, is a true partner and participates in every aspect of the school culture.

  • Flexible seating is alive and well at TES.

  • TES Motion is a PK-8 and parent experience

  • Mornng Meetings are occurring to ensure a touch point with each student.

  • Weekly art classes are taugh by a local artist

Partnerships Alive & Thriving in West Marin!

Special thanks to Matt, Lue, Bonnie, Lourdes, Socorro and Wendy for sharing the amazing collaborations occurring in West Marin.  What we sitnessed first-hand was an exceptional representation of distributed leadership and extraordinary partnership on behalf of students and their families.

 

WEST MARIN LIBRARY - BONNIE WHITE - DIRECTOR

Librarian Bonnie White took us on a mesmerizing journey complete with Virtual Reality experiences that demonstrate the breadth and depth of the partnership with Shoreline Unfiied School District and West Marin Community Resources, Coastal Health Alliance and beyond.  Library services include true partnerships:

    PAPERMILL CREEK CHILDREN'S CORNER - LOURDES ROMO - DIRECTOR

    Papermill Creek has grown exponentially under the direction of Lourdes Romo and her staff. Enrollment has doubled, scholarships are available, the classroom is vibrant with a waiting list to get into the school that is been transformed…..take a look at the photos for hands-on science, dramatic play, literacy, exploration and more

    The school and community partnerships are one in the same. Distributed leadership, mutual respect for each individual’s contributions, and a spirt of collaboration are simply thriving in Point Reyes Station and beyond.

    Socorro shared programs that empower families to get involved and have their voices heard and their contributions appreciated. Community involvement and partnerships are clearly the goal to bring families together for the common good for all.

    Just when we think we couldn’t possibly take the work deeper, we have a Cross District Learning Walk and hear new ideas on how to partner to the "max" with community partners.

    Program Highlights

     

    • BV has a new Mission Statement‐Jewel of the Canal

    •  

    • Alignment of district and P3 Initiatives-First School, Data, Cultural Proficiency, SEAL, BalancedLiteracy, Coaching Model, and PBIS

    • Maximizing funding resources to serve families: LCAP, Categorical Funding, MCF

    •  

    • Roles and Responsibilities of each Family Center leader

    •  

    • Partner include more than 18 community based organizations

    •  

    • Formal Family Charla Cafes occur the first Wednesday of the month, adult ESL, Family Literacy 11 week session, Triple P, Community Night Workshops, Collaborative PK Workshops with feeder PK, special events: Garden Day, Health and Safety, Family Art, Dia de los Muertos, Family Festival

    •  

    • Direct service for families includes: case management, resource referrals, translations, Cal Works applications, Flu Shot clinics, Holiday Toy Program, Summer Scholarships for Summer Camps

    •  

    • Family Engagement is modeled after Karen Mapp’s theory of action: Families as Decision Makers, Families as Learning Partners
