TITLE IX Law: Discrimination & Harassment - Know Your Rights
Federal Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”), implemented at 34 C.F.R. § 106.31, subd. (a), provides that no person shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any academic, extracurricular, research, occupational training, or other education program or activity operated by a recipient which receives federal financial assistance. Relevant here, Title IX requires school districts to take immediate and appropriate action to investigate when it knows or reasonably should know of a possible Title IX violation.

Combined School Site Council & English Learners Committee (SSC/ELAC)
The committee contains parents, students, community members, and school staff in the school governance process. The committee oversees and analyzes actions taken by the school in where resources are allocated as well as any decisions that effect the overall community of the school. Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP)
The LCAP is a three-year plan that describes the goals, actions, services, and expenditures to support positive student outcomes that address state and local priorities. The LCAP provides an opportunity for local educational agencies (LEAs) to share their stories of how, what, and why programs and services are selected to meet their local needs.

ACS WASC accredits elementary and secondary schools; not-for-profit, non-degree granting adult schools; and supplementary educational programs. Uniform Complain Procedure Annual Notice (UCP)
The Marin County Office of Education (MCOE) annually notifies our students, employees, parents or guardians of its students, the district advisory committee, school advisory committees, appropriate private school officials, and other interested parties of our Uniform Complaint Procedures (UCP) process.
We are primarily responsible for compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, including those related to unlawful discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or bullying against any protected group, and all programs and activities that are subject to the UCP.
