  • Legislative Update Series for School and District Administrators – September 7, 2016 (Elementary) and 28, 2016 (Secondary)

    Presented by the School & College Legal Services and hosted by the MCOE, this workshop is presented in two parts: Elementary Focus and Secondary Focus.  Elementary Focus topics include: English Learner Terms; Sexual Health Education, Dyslexia, SB277 Personal Belief Exemption, Foster Youth, Homeless, Categorical Programs and Educator Effectiveness Funds.  Secondary Focus topics include: English Learner Terms, High school exit exam, Grade 9 Mathematics, College and Career Pathways, SB277, Foster Youth, Homeless, Categorical Programs and Educator Effectiveness Funds.

    ELA/ELD Instructional Material Adoption Process - September 27, 2016

    Presented by the Marin County Office of Education, District Teams will review local and state data components to help develop unique district lens; explore programs' integration of the four literacy strands across the grade levels; and, delve deeper into components to determine how intentionally the ELD standards are used in tandem with the ELA Literacy standards.

    North-South Information Meeting 2016-2017 - September 27, 2016

    The North-South Information Meeting will be held this year via webinar at the Marin County Office of Education.  This meeting will provide local updates on a number of important topics related to California's assessment system.

    SARB Annual Training - October 5, 2016

    This review of procedures and requirements for conduction SARB Meetings will be hald at the Marin County Office of Education.  Designed for school site/district staff, law enforcement, probation, community mental health and youth advocates who have responsibilities as members of School Attendance Review Boards.

    Sexual Harassment Prevention Training – October 13, 2016

    All supervisory employees must receive two hours of sexual harassment training.  This training is provided to supervisory employees every other year and/or if you are new to a supervisory position. If you are new to a supervisory position, you must attend this training within 6 months of beginning a supervisory position.

    High-Impact ELD for Common Core Success – October 17, 2016

    Join Tonya Ward Singer, Language and Literacy Consultant, discusses how to translate the ELD standards into high-impact lessons with a concrete framework for planning tools. Participants will engage in interactive demonstrations and analyze videos and plan relevant, engaging ELD instruction aligned to students' needs.

    FRISK Leadership Training – November 8, 2016​

    The FRISK Leadership Training Series is a communication framework for remediating performance problems and developing legally defensible documentation when discipline is necessary.  The framework lays out the basic points that evaluators should include in feedback to employees to satisfy just cause requirements, promote positive change, and provide a clear understanding of performance expectations.

    National Board Certification to Marin County Teachers

    MCOE will be starting its second year of partnering with Stanford University’s National Board Resource Center to deliver profound professional development to our Marin County teachers.
