State Tax Collections
The State of California’s tax collections for March exceeded projections by $1.4 billion, placing year-to-date collections ahead by $1.1 billion. While this is positive news, collections for the month of April are critical to final revenue totals, which will inform the May Revision 2017-18 state budget update due to be issued around May 10th. We will continue to monitor collections and advise as we learn more.
Parcel Tax Administration Training
The annual parcel tax administration training for district staff will be provided by the County of Marin on May 24 from 9 am to 12 noon at MCOE. This information has been circulated to DBO’s.
SMART Train/Commuter Benefits Program
SMART train officials have reported trains are scheduled to begin operating in the late spring timeframe. Marin County Office of Education is working with Marin County officials to coordinate efforts to offer a countywide Commuter Benefits Program that will help reduce the cost of shared commuting by tax sheltering some of the cost. The information will be shared with DBO’s at their May 16 meeting.
An employee informational meeting has been scheduled for May 24 at 3:30 pm here at Marin COE. The flyer is attached.
