Health and Wellness
-
Health and Wellness is a Marin County Office of Education commitment to health education. Health literacy, a coordinated school health system, and a planned sequential curriculum are three critical elements to ensure children and youth develop competent lifelong understanding.
Health literacy is the ability to obtain, interpret, and understand basic health information and services in ways that are health enhancing. A coordinated school health system is designed to protect and promote the health and well-being of students and staff. Emphasis is placed on developing positive health-related attitudes and behaviors both for oneself and as a member of the community.
Prevention strategies are focused on optimal health, positive healthy behaviors, and health literacy is a collaborative effort within community. The resources below all support the health and wellness program and services in Marin County schools.
Communicable Diseases

Organisms like bacteria, viruses, and parasites cause infectious diseases. Illness caused by an infectious disease is a common occurrence in students.School Health Manual
