  • LEARNING ALLY TRAINING

    Learn why and how audiobooks can support reading skill development, the 4 qualifying categories of eligibility, and what books are available in the Learning Ally Library. You will get hands on experience with LINK and Teacher Ally and an understanding of the strategies for integrating audiobooks into the classroom.  

    • For Elementary Schools: Wednesday September 19th from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
    • For Middle and High Schools: Thursday September 20th from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

    TIPI TRAINING: RESOLVING EMOTIONAL DIFFICULTIES IN KIDS

    Intended Audience: All educators who work with students that could benefit from engaging in mindfulness practices to support emotional regulation.

    Tipi for Children is a training program for teachers that was developed specifically for young children (ages 2-9). This course empowers children to resolve emotional difficulties without teachers having to understand the underlying causes. Tipi can be used by anyone, anywhere, without prior knowledge! 

    The course is a highly informative, two part workshop for professionals working with children. The training allows participants to:

    • Facilitate the resolution of children's emotional challenges
    • Learn how to calm a child in distress instantly
    • Permanently address emotional difficulties and the resulting behaviors

    BEHAVIOR & EMERGENCY INTERVENTION TRAINING

    September 25, 2018 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

    Training Focus Points: 

    • A review of Behavioral Intervention procedures will occur; this includes but not limited to Functional Assessment methodology, creation of a Behavior Intervention Plan, and an overview of Behavior Services.
    • Examples of materials and procedures to be utilized will be reviewed.
    • Reporting guidelines will be outlined.
    • A review of ethical considerations when developing and implementing Behavioral Intervention and Emergency Intervention procedures will be reviewed.
    • A clinical Question and Answer session as it relates to Functional Behavior Assessment, creation/implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans, as well as Behavior Intervention services for specific cases that participants have in mind will occur at the end of the training.

    CREATING A SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT: UNIVERSAL TIER 1 CLASSROOM SUPPORTS FOR THE MENTAL WELLNESS OF ALL STUDENTS 


    Topics include specific environmental supports that increase students' ability to access learning in the classroom by designing a safe and supportive environment. Curriculum development and instruction in social-emotional learning will also be discussed as a critical piece of instruction for all students.

    Bridging the use of evidence-based practices for students with autism between school, home, and the community. This is designed for Teachers, School Psychologists, Administrators, Speech & Language Specialists, Occupational Therapists, BCBAs, and Home-Based Providers.

    Topics include review of the second language acquisition process, familiarity with the State Standards for English Language Learners, and points that are important to consider when planning intervention. Participants will explore resources and materials to implement in therapy sessions for English Language Learners with Speech Language Impairment.
