    Changes to General Education Home-Hospital Instruction - Effective January 1, 2019

    The Governor signed Assembly Bill (AB) 2109 on August 20, 2018, which makes various changes in law regarding general education students with a temporary disability receiving individual instruction in the home or hospital.  The changes in law are effective on January 1, 2019 and the Legal Update attached will detail the changes in the law.

    Sexual Harassment Prevention Legislation - Effective January 1, 2019

    The Governor signed two Senate Bills (SB) 820 and 1343 relating to sexual harassment issues.  These two Senate Bills go into effect January 1, 2019.  Please refer to the attached Legal Update regarding the content of these Bills and particularly how they relate to public employees and employers.

    Coursework and Graduation Requirements for Migratory Children and Newly Arrived Immigrant Pupils - Effective January 1, 2019

    On September 20, 2018, Assembly Bill 2121 was signed into law, requiring local educational agencies to take specific actions relating to migratory children and newly arrived immigrant students.  The bill amends California Education Code sections 51225.1 and 51225.2, and it defines the term "Pupil participating in a newcomer program" in Section 51225.2(a)(6).
