College Access and Student Scuccess
Community Partners and Parents for College Access and Beyond
Marin Community Foundation, Marin County Office of Education, San Rafael City Schools, Canal Alliance, and community-based organizations are working collaboratively to implement a project for College Access and Student Success (CASS). The grant is focused on college preparation and access for students in poverty, English Learners, and students of color, who are first generation in their families to attend college. Davidson Middle School and San Rafael High School are participating in the CASS Project to achieve the goal of college access. These schools, along with CASS Project Supervisors and community-based partners, work to identify and place students, engage families, coordinate teacher support, focus on leadership development, and commit to a true partnership. The program, jointly developed by school and community based teams, includes progress monitoring with families and teachers for student academic success and personal achievement and growth. CASS Assistant Project Supervisors, placed at the school sites, provide direct student and family support, ensuring continuous communication among all constituents. The 2018-2019 school year marks the third year of the grant, with approximately 160 students and families.
