College Access and Student Success

  • Community Partners and Parents for College Access and Beyond

The Marin Community Foundation, Marin County Office of Education, San Rafael City Schools, Canal Alliance, and community-based organizations are working collaboratively to implement a project for College Access and Student Success (CASS) at Davidson Middle School and San Rafael High School. The project is focused on creating access to and preparation for college for students in poverty, English Learners, and students of color, who are first generation in their families to attend college. The project, jointly developed by school and community based teams, includes progress monitoring with families, AVID teachers, and school administration for student academic success and personal achievement and growth. CASS Assistant Project Supervisors, placed at the school sites, provide direct student and family support, ensuring continuous communication among all constituents. The 2019-2020 school year marks the fourth year of the grant, with approximately 180 students and families.
