  • Sonday System Workshops for Special Education Teachers and Intervention Specialists

    Sonday System is offering two workshops at the Marin County Office of Education:

    • September 30, 2019 - Sonday System 1 - Grades K-2.  Multisensory reading instruction for beginner readers using phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and hands-on use of materials and strategies

    • October 1, 2019 - Sonday System 2 - Grades 3-8.  Multisensory reading instruction for intermediate readers using syllable types and division, prefixes and suffixes, roots, non-phonetic words, vocabulary and comprehension
  • California Autism Professional Training Information Network Cohort

    Develop knowledge and expertise in utilizing evidence based practices for students with Autism in this six part series. Registration for all six parts is required.

     

    • September 3, 2019 - Part 1 of the series. Receive coaching and consultative support from Marin County CAPTAIN Cadre members on useful tools and strategies for implementation of evidence based practices for served students.

     

    SEIS for New Teachers

    A full day "Nuts & Bolts" training for teachers who are new to SEIS.

     

    • September 5, 2019 - Presentation and materials will utilize SEIS, and laptops will be available for those who choose to not bring their own.

     

    Supervisor of Attendance Training

    The training will identify and review the duties of district supervisors of attendance as identified in California Education Code Section 48240.

     

    • September 10, 2019 - How to raise awareness, identify, respond to, address, and evaluate chronic absenteeism and habitual truancy.

     

    SEIS Refresher

    A refresher course for teachers and providers who have experience with SEIS.

     

    • September 16, 2019 - Presentation will focus on high frequency errors and strategies for managing student caseloads.Laptops will be available for those who choose to not bring their own.
    • September 25, 2019 - Presentation will focus on high frequency errors and strategies for managing student caseloads.Laptops will be available for those who choose to not bring their own.

     

    Emotional Freedom Techniques [General & Special Educators]

    A five part series presented by Suzanne Alfandari, MS, LMFT, and EFT practitioner, on Emotional Freedom Techniques, AKA Tapping. For general and special educators.

     

    • September 16, 2019 - Part 1 of the series for general and special educators. Direct and consultative workshops, participants will have the opportunity to learn techniques to helps students reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, physical and emotional pain, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

     

    Emotional Freedom Techniques [Mental Health Providers]

    CA Dyslexia Guidelines - Next Steps

     An informational workshop on California's definition of dyslexia including helpful planning and how to address it.

     

    • September 23, 2019 - Participants will learn what is included in California's definition of dyslexia, considerations and tools for assessing dyslexia, and current research and considerations for assessing English language learners for dyslexia. Participants will also learn how to plan and create academic interventions for students with phonological processing difficulties. 

     

    Preschool Special Education A-Z - School & College Legal Services of California

    A meeting to go over mental health and takeaway lessons from recent experiences.

     

    • September 26, 2019 -  Talking points will include: home issues, mental health services, residential treatment centers and case studies.
