SPECIAL EDUCATION/SPECIAL EDUCATION LOCAL PLAN AREA (SELPA)
CAPTAIN EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICES (EBPs) CAPTAIN Bridges will be hosting two upcoming trainings on Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs): reinforcement and visual supports. The selected EBPs are focused intervention practices that have evidence of efficacy in promoting positive outcomes for learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Reinforcement EBPs - Thursday, April 22nd 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Reinforcement is the application of consequences after skills or behavior occurs that increase the learner’s use of the skills or behavior in future situations. Reinforcement is a foundational evidence-based practice that is almost always used with other evidence-based practices including prompting, discrete trial teaching, functional communication training, and naturalistic intervention.
Visual Support EBPs - Wednesday, May 19th 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visual supports can be used as concrete cues that provide information about an activity, routine, or expectation and/or support skill demonstration. Some examples of visual schedules that will be reviewed include visual schedules, activity schedules, work systems, graphic organizers, visual cues, and scripts.
