2021-22 Adopted Budget Review
District Business Services office staff are in the process of reviewing the district's 2021-22 adopted budgets. We expect to provide draft review letters to districts on or about September 13th, with final letters issued by the statutory deadline of September 15. We will continue using the district office address as the board President's address in the letters, however, the letters will continue to be mailed to the board presidents' home addresses. As always, we appreciate as quick a response as possible to ensure we meet the statutory deadline for the final letters.
AB 130 Independent Study
Assembly Bill (AB) 130 eliminates distance learning as an option and provides that all school districts shall offer independent study as an alternative to in-person classroom instruction in the 2021-22 school year. This requirement may be met by entering into interdistrict transfer agreements with another district or by contracting with the County Office of Education. Novato Unified has offered to enter into interdistrict transfer agreements to afford this option to students throughout Marin County and has prepared a memorandum of understanding to that effect. All districts must provide a notice to parents advising of the option to enroll in independent study. For those districts offering independent study, there are new permanent requirements that will necessitate an update to both board policies and written agreements. MCOE hosted an information session on Independent Study on August 10, 2021 and have posted the presentation materials and recording on the School District Forums webpage.
2020-21 Unaudited Actuals Financial Data
District Business Services has been hosting weekly technical assistance work sessions over the summer on topics related to year end closing and SACS unaudited data submissions with updates on events that may impact school budgets. The Unaudited Actuals Financial reports are due to the County Office of Education on or before September 15, 2021.
