Course Title: Medical Assisting
Location: Terra Linda High School
Dates: Classroom coursework during Fall and Spring Semesters. Paid Summer clinical internships at Kaiser Permanente for students who meet requirements (pending confirmation from Kaiser).
Times: The class takes place during Terra Linda High School's 7th-period class.
Age Group: For high school students, recommended for seniors or juniors with priority given to seniors.
Description: Students are taught skills performed by medical assistants, including medical terminology, ethics, anatomy and physiology, infection control, pharmacology, and emergency procedures. Students who are accepted as interns at Kaiser Permanente during the summer are instructed, under supervision, to perform medical assisting procedures and may be able to observe physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals. The class articulates with the College of Marin. U.C. “g” credit is available.
