Walker Creek Ranch

The Marin County Office of Education has operated a residential outdoor education program since 1965. In 1990, the program was relocated to the 1,700-acre property at Walker Creek Ranch.

In addition to the Outdoor Education program for students throughout the greater Bay area and beyond, Walker Creek Ranch is available as a Retreat and Conference Center for public and private groups and organizations, such as family reunions, weddings and other types of events.

Outdoor Education

The Marin County Outdoor School at Walker Creek Ranch is dedicated to helping elementary schools satisfy their educational goals through quality instruction within a special learning environment that inspires and motivates students to achieve an appreciation of the natural world.  Using the principals of thematic instruction, the Outdoor School program enhances each student's critical thinking, processing, and socialization skills.

Students will experience a renewed sense of self, community, and connection to nature. Activities will include hiking the Walker Peak, studying aquatic life in the creek or pond, engaging in team challenges, and fostering new peer-to-peer relationships.
