The Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) is celebrating 5 years of serving Marin County Educators and Staff! This is great news for school employees traveling between Sonoma and Marin County.
The Marin County Office of Education is pleased to offer discounted pricing for SMART’s unlimited Eco-Pass for the 2022-2023 school year effective October 1, 2022. Employees must purchase passes no later than the 10th of the month preceding the pass month (i.e., purchase October's pass by September 10).
Employees can purchase Eco-Passes for unlimited rides all month for only
$135/month using pre-tax dollars!

EMERGENCY RIDE HOME
Concerned about needing a ride home in an emergency? MCOE has partnered with the Transportation Authority of Marin to assist commuters in the event of an emergency. MCOE employees should contact the Personnel Department when the need arises at (415) 499-5854. Emergency Ride Home Program Rules

Eco-Passes are only accessible through the Commuter Benefits Solutions website. Go online to purchase using your employer’s ID code. Note, passes must be purchased no later than the 10th of the month prior to the pass being activated (i.e., purchase your October pass by September 10)

Prior to enrolling in the Commuter Benefits Solutions program online, employees must purchase a Clipper card. The Clipper card will be loaded electronically with your Eco-Pass information. Purchase a Clipper card online or at a local retailer.

Train schedules can be viewed at the SMART Train website.
HOW WILL I GET FROM THE STATION TO MY PLACE OF WORK?
- Options for transport include walking, bringing a bike on the train or using a transit service such as Lyft Line.
- For riders who use the Civic Center SMART station, Marin Transit offers a service known as “Connect” to provide on demand shuttle transport in the Terra Linda/Lucas Valley area for a small fee.
IS THERE A DISCOUNT FOR USING LYFT TO TRAVEL TO/FROM THE STATION TO MCOE?
- Yes! The Transportation Authority of Marin has partnered with Lyft Line to offer $5 daily discounts to riders using SMART.
- You can also purchase a pre-paid Mastercard through the Commuter Benefits website and use it to fund your Lyft Line ride with pre-tax money!
WHAT IF I HAVE AN EMERGENCY AND NEED TO GET HOME QUICKLY?
You are in luck! The Transportation Authority of Marin has organized an Emergency Ride Home program for employees who commute. Employers must establish an account with this program for employees to qualify. Employees are eligible for up to 4 free rides home per year up to $125 per ride (i.e., taxi, Uber, Lyft). Employees would notify the Personnel Department when an emergency arises to confirm eligibility and to submit reimbursement.
