Facilities and Transportation
Utilities
The Marin Municipal Water District is proposing a rate increase effective January 1, 2016. The impact is a 4% increase by May 1, 2016. MMWD staff will meet with the District Business Officials to present information about the rates on November 4 at MCOE.
Transportation
The Marin County Office of Education has been working in partnership with Marin Transit and the Transportation Authority of Marin on a Coordinated Countywide School Transportation Study. The study is being conducted under the leadership of Robert Betts, the Planning Manager at Marin Transit, and has included the use of a consulting group, School Bus Consultants. The objective is to create countywide access to school programs utilizing a high "green trip" rate which would reduce traffic congestion around school sites, improve access to schools, and increase/improve student health and safety.
Additional information and resources are available below.
Mr. Betts and the School Bus Consultants have worked closely with our school district superintendents, schools, and our local communities throughout this process. A final report is expected to be released by Marin Transit in December with a workshop taking place for the Marin Transit Board of Directors on December 1 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The final report will include identification of near term and long term actions that may be considered, and projected associated costs. Mr. Betts and his colleagues at Marin Transit are incredible resources in our community, who can speak to options, costs, challenges and opportunities that we will face in the area of transportation in Marin County into the future.
