2017 Teacher of the Year Program

The California Department of Education (CDE) will again recognize five exemplary California teachers for 2017.  We have many outstanding teachers in Marin County and need your help in identifying and recognizing them for this honor.

Marin County School Administrator's Association (MCSAA) Student Scholarship

In a departure from past practice, we will be issuing all scholarship awards directly to schools.  This will allow school Principals to present them to students during award nights for graduating seniors.  Applications are due to the MCSAA Board by April 20th.

Mathematics Placement Act of 2015

The California Mathematics Placement Act of 2015 requires the governing boards or bodies of local education agencies that serve pupils entering grade nine and that have not already done so, to adopt "a fair, objective, and transparent mathematics placement policy" before the beginning of the 2016-17 school year.  The mathematics placement policy must be adopted in a regularly scheduled public meeting.

Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are the highest honors bestowed by the United States government specifically for K-12 mathematics and science (including computer science) teaching.  The award recognizes those teachers who develop and implement a high-quality instructional program that is informed by content knowledge and enhances student learning.

Principals, teachers, parents, students, or members of the general public, may nominate teachers in grades K-6 for the 2016 Award Year.  To submit a nomination, please visit the Presidential Award Information for instructions and application.  The deadline for applications is May 1, 2016.
