Emergency Preparedness - Marin County Annual Parent Leader Workshop
Marin County Office of Education (MCOE) hosted morning and evening workshops in partnership with the Marin Schools Emergency Preparedness Council, the Marin County Councils of Parent Teachers Associations 16th District, the Marin County Sheriff's Office, Office of Emergency Services, and the Marin Chapter of American Red Cross. Participants included school administrators and parent volunteers involved in emergency preparedness from public and private schools. Officials from the Sheriff's Office, Office of Emergency Services, the Red Cross and MCOE presented information on the recent Marin County Civil Grand Jury Report, an overview of the Marin Schools Model Emergency Management Plan, emergency drills including lock down / active shooter, student release, discussion around the recent lock down at Redwood High School, response to the Napa Valley Earthquake, and schools as emergency shelters. The workshops were interactive by design as a dialogue focused on the interests, questions, and concerns of the participants. These annual workshops offered at MCOE in the Fall to parents and school staff will replace the Parents Disaster Advisory Council.
