Physical Education CCSESA update - Nov 2014

Ed Code section 51210 requires grades 1 through 6 to include physical education instruction for at least 200 minutes every 10 school days exclusive of recess and lunch.  Cal200, a physical education advocacy group, has filed a lawsuit against 37 school districts alleging that school are not meeting the 200 minute requirement.  San Diego and San Francisco Counties, named in the lawsuit, are pursuing legislation to add this code section to the Uniform Complaint Process as a means of reporting non-compliance rather than resorting directly to litigation.
