Health and Wellness – February – Eating Disorders in Adolescents
On February 9, 2015, the Marin County Office of Education will be hosting two free workshops on "Eating Disorders in Adolescents – Recognition and Early Intervention," one for teachers and administrators, and one for parents and community members. The presenter, Dr. Sarah Lowenthal, is a board certified Family Physician and expert in Eating Disorders, and will cover topics including identifying red flags and basic strategies for early intervention.
The workshop for teachers and administrators is from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. and is designed to help school staff recognize the basic signs and symptoms of an eating disorder for rapid intervention.
The workshop for parents and community members is from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. and will cover basic definitions, risk factors, prevention and treatment.
