Business Services - Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014 (AB 1522)

On September 10, 2014, Governor Jerry Brown signed into law the California Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014. Effective July 1, 2015, this new law will entitle eligible employees up to six (6) days of paid sick leave per year. All employees, including temporary and substitutes, who work for 30 or more days within a year will be eligible.  The new law could be administratively burdensome to track and monitor and we are working towards simplifying the process as much as possible.  The MCOE is creating a quick reference handbook for all districts to use and we will be distributing this to DBO's on May 13th.
